The Chronicles of Navrathria - Part 3

Now that Saraswathi pooja is over, it is time to release the rest of the golu photos!

Here goes..

The smaller? golus...When you have kids in their terrible twos, the golu tends to be empty on the lower steps and they put all the fragile dolls higher up. Don't remember noticing that when we were kids.

We will now demonstrate a method to calculate the LCM (Please refresh 7th standard Math) for the golus using a factorization method. This shows that the prime factors in a golu are...

Back to more photos..

The megolumaniacs !

This one had a mini Thirupathi setup on the side and it was amazing!

When you cannot capture the size of the steps at 28mm on a Digital Rebel and you have to resort to stitching, it implies that the golu just filled the entire room!

Finally, a couple of shots of our dolls in different paavaadais!

It was definitely fun, socializing, chronicling the golus, eating sundal(s) and watching the little one say "My paavaadai fits! It fits!" after last years experience of hand me downs (hey, if you are 1+ years old and have made only one India trip, chances are you are not going to have enough Paavaadai's that fit, especially if you are short and fare in the bottom 10 percentile for height!).

Here's looking forward to next years golu..

ps. We forgot to take the camera to some golus or simply could not get pictures without people in the frame.. so your golu's have not been featured?! here. Hey, there is always next year, right?

Golumania

The photos of the golu displays will be published after Wednesday. Some folks are actually of the view, that this blog reveals too much about their golu and people will see the photos and not be in awe when they come to see the real display. So we will not spoil it for them, considering most of the people in this circle, read this blog!

The displays we saw this year, were a step up from last years golus!

While waiting for the ladies to do their song routine, and eating some sundal, started counting the dolls on one golu and just on the steps there were 148 pieces. The whole thing must have been close to 450-500 dolls! Hats off to the ladies who set it up.

Jr. has now been inspired by all those kids singing and playing various instruments. She wants to sing in next years golus and the music training might start soon! She was a bold girl this weekend and sang "I love you, you love me" a Barney song set to Adi Taal and got a lot of hugs and kisses. Hey, you can only sing what you have been taught!

The little one is going in a different direction altogether, and wants to learn...

guitar!

You can see for yourself, what she has been upto, in her non-paavaadai time, earlier today. Thanks to YaadaYaada we learnt that SETMAX is availabe free as a trial offer. We turned it on this morning and lo and behold...

Boy, are we in trouble...

The time space continuum...

The old yahoo photos was long forgotten with Jr.'s first photos safely tucked away somewhere!

Then came the deal to move them all to Flikr.

Realizing that there is now unlimited space for storage, I promptly moved them all. I could have moved them to shutterfly, not that it mattered.

Now came the reminder email. The storage was for a three months only! Now I have to pay 25 bucks to upgrade to Flikr premium. I still have the photos there. Just wont be able to see anything other than the last 200 photos.

What is the point in having unlimited space for a limited time?

They got me on that one, fair and square!!

Now I find that most of my blogger buddies who are Flikr addicts have been paying the premium anyways and they tell me it is worth it.

I may get it for free because we use Yahoo DSL, but have to wait and see..

Now that we are on the topic of paying for storing photos, is Flikr the best? Is there something out there that is better for the same or lower price, or even a few dollars more?

I am getting general feedback that the google photos is not that great (I do like Picassa though), people tell me that smugmug(?) is good, etc..

Let me know!

ps. I am not saying Flikr tricked me or anything. Actually they were emailing me on my yahoo account to notify me that the photos are moved. The first mail in my Flikr inbox does mention this 200 photo/ 3 month thing.. I just opened that email last week. Who knew there was a Flikr email inbox ???
