Concession

We were walking out of the movie theater with the entire family after watching "UP".

FIL saw the word Concessions written in large lettering on one side and said "looks like something is being given as a concession. should we check it out?"

we all looked at him for a second and said "Here concession doesn't mean discounted. It is the name for popcorn and sodas"

He was puzzled, to say the least.

Why would you call popcorn and sodas concessions? Is it because it is subsidized?

and we all said "it is sold at three times the normal price. it is anything but subsidized!"

Could not find the origin of how movie theater stalls got to be called Concessions..

If you know, please point us to a link..

ps. What a movie! Fantastic sums it up.

Adsense

Today we were having dinner with a relative who works at google.

He convinced me to use Adsense. He was asking me why I don't use Adsense. I did not understand. Told him that

1. somehow the ads would clutter up the template
2. don't care about the money
3. don't want to be indirectly responsible for suggesting products that I might not recommend

and he said "totally not true!"

You can completely select what kind of contextual ads to place and it might actually help you, if not the people who read your blog and point them to some interesting related links..

So tried it.. and it messed up my template for sure. So have signed up for an account and now I have to figure out how to get it into the sidebar instead of the top of the blog!

If google wants me to use Adsense, they should make it more idiot proof for simpletons like me (who are still on the same old template from four years ago!).

Maybe those who have this on their blog can give me some pointers?

Does this actually help point you to interesting links?

Ten years and counting

Finally San agreed to get this photo posted on the blog!

(Had to do some research to figure out how to get an animated gif image to show up on blogger. It did not work first. It does not work on facebook either. . hope this works)

Thanks to all for wishing us on our tenth anniversary. A big thanks from both San and me.

The little one had a surprise present for us last week. When San went to pick her up on her last day of school (Friday), all the teachers huddled around San and started congratulating her. Further investigation revealed that the little one had announced to her class and all teachers that she was expecting a baby brother, soon!

We should have drawn the line at imaginary friends. Now it has gotten to a point of having imaginary baby brother. San clarified to the whole school that there are no baby brothers in queue and all the teachers started running away, embarrased. Well, they have learnt their lesson "don't trust the little one, especially when she delivers blatant lies with straight face"

The LO put on a sad face, got all teary eyed when scolded for spreading lies and said "but I really wanted a baby brother and I don't wan to be the baby in the house anymore"

That set the tone for the laugh riot that followed the rest of the weekend.

Here is the little one all interested in meeting her idol, Dora the Explorer at Universal Studios

Here is the little one scared of Dora after the initial rush and hug!

Posing for daddy !

Posing for daddy again..

and because we are an equal opportunity blog when it comes to posting photos, here is one of Jr. posing fabulously in front of the Universal Studios entrance.

The fun continues....
