Was pop quizzing my mom over the phone about her birth certificate.
Her response "You have to go ask the midwife who delivered me for a birth certificate. there was no record keeping then. I was born in our ancestral home! The only thing I have is my high school certificate which mentions my date of birth"
Now how do people who try to process permanent residency for their old parents deal with this?

One of the last matching dresses came out today...
This one is simple but the girls looked bright eyed and bushy tailed in them!
The little one has been very difficult to deal with the entire day. Bad cold, the infinite "nobody loves me in his house" routine, tantrums galore!
Things will turn around tomorrow or so we hope..

Was eating Arisi Pori (Rice crispies) last night. Bought a big bag at my favorite Kabali Pori Kadalai just before leaving India. Finished off that bag last night.. and feel so sad.
The Pori we get in the Indian stores here tastes really stale and is not crispy and the ones that are crispy taste too salty.
The little one came to me and said "give me the last few pori"
She ate it and went "This is like the Popcorn of India, Appa!"
Was in two minds to start a debate on "NO. Popcorn is the Pori of USA!" and decided against it.
Popcorn isn't bad either. It is "ezhaikku etha Pori urundai"!

Why can't we get good quality Pori (puffed rice) in the USA? Why? Why?
