Okay, what was I doing in a stakehouse?  Call it a business dinner! 

It was a very reputed place called Alexander's (happens to be 10 minutes from home but why would I know about something like this) which was great with the ambience and hospitality... and the food from the way my fellow diners were chomping down the pieces of red meat on their plates and drooling simultaneously!

Ordered the one veggie item on the menu and wow.. it was not much to fill your stomach but they made it fill your stomach just by looking at the food!

Ate maybe 40% of that plate and felt full... Then it was time for dessert and we got a really yummy cake with some... Cotton Candy! It was the first time any restaurant served cotton candy as a signature dessert piece.. 

Well, at least the next time I have to take some heavy meat eating friends to dinner, know where to take them!

Gods for a day

The kids got treated like gods, quite literally on Monday when we went to a Gujrathi family for Navarathri celebrations. 

The ladies in the house line up all the little girls aged 3 to 10 and wash their feet, put flowers, perfumes on them and then do a prayer with the girls treated as the deities!

Needless to say this is followed by some amazing food...

It was a great experience for the kids and they blushed at all the attention.

Truly happy that they are getting an all Indian experience and are not restricted to a simply south Indian Golu tradition. Only in the bay area!

Portrait Festival

Yes, every year during Golu season Daddy Narayanan organizes what is called the Portrait festival where the two girls have to pose for portraits after their dress up routine.

Next year we have to custom stitch stuff for Jr. She has outgrown readymade Paavaadai sizes as of this year!

That means yours truly is growing old and needs new camera equipment to cheer him up! Certain fokls who are traveling in India right now need to make note of above statement...
