Pelicons

Two Photographs..

The first one is a Pelican with an "a".

This shot captured at the Shoreline park a couple of weekends ago (when things were very different with life) during a picnic...

The next one is a Pelicon with an "o". Yes, you got that right. The title was no typo. This shot was taken last sunday where a pelican was trying to act like one of the blue angels.. When you have a 70-200 on a 2x extender the thing is more than a foot long and taking hand held shots is a challenge. To top things off the gulls and Pelicans would come flying in from the sides and mess up my focus!

The only bonus? This shot of the Pelican was as crisp as the shot of the airplanes (which could be crispier..). A lot of people got conned by the Pelicans. The blue angels would make a noise and everyone would turn to the edge of the Pier and out would come a Pelican and the crowd would burst out laughing.

This year somehow the fun was not there watching the Blue Angels perform compared to last year. There was just way too much of a crowd and too much second hand smoking for one day!

Next year we might not even go..

The budding chef

The kids have been complaining that there are no new baby videos.. that is what they call old videos of them that we see in the blog before bedtime!

So we need more baby videos for three years from now.. Here is a start!

She is becoming quite a chef!

The older one is as elusive as a vampire in daylight! Will have to work hard to catch that one on camera doing something cute.

Have been busy with the new job the last week. Loving it so far. Also have a nice Macbook Air. A Mac work laptop after 15 years. Loving that too.. Getting used to the trackpad as fast as I can.

The other amazing thing is that it runs VMware Fusion. That means with a swipe of the mouse it goes from a Mac screen to a Windows screen and runs my Windows apps!

We also spent some time with the kids today at Pier 39 watching the Blue Angels fly just between us and Alcatraz. Have some nice photos.. but the editing has to wait till middle of the week.

Until then..

To Boldly go..

We are not talking about the new job here.  True, most of you expected me to take a break. Staring at an iPhone with 0 work emails and 48 gmails in 4 hours gave me a jolt! That is not the work life balance yours truly has become used to..

Promptly jumped into the new job and have the brain overload going again.

This post is about "boldly going where no man has gone before...."

On Saturday we went to the Olive Garden for dinner. There was a power outage in the entire area to the point where the parking lots were dark. So I went in first with the kids. Waited for them to come out of the restroom and the minute they came out it was my turn to go. So rushed in..

Come out and see a lady standing near the mirror! That is when I asked "Are you in the wrong restroom or am I?"

First of all, she was too zapped to see a guy walk out of one of the bathrooms! Then he actually coverses with her and has the audacity to ask her if she is in the wrong restroom? She gave me "the look".

Having been surrounded by women for the most of the last decade, she didn't have to open her mouth and say anything. Understood from that look that I was in the wrong place. Said sorry and walked out and her husband and son were waiting outside.

Then it was their turn to give me "the look". Mumbled something and came sat down at the table we got near the bar. My daughters were laughing out loud and my wife who didn't get what was going on kept looking at me and the kids. She thought it was one of our inside jokes!

Men folk. Here is a tip.. If you ever have a doubt that you are in the wrong restroom, just get the hell out..
