Moose morning

The first post on Northern Lights trip is here..

We slept after 3AM, trying to feel our fingers and toes after being in -10F. The receptionist told us that breakfast will be there till 10AM. We learned shortly that sunrise was just going to be at 9:30 AM or so.

We woke up at 9AM and came down to breakfast where we met a couple from Queensland Australia and another couple from Michigan. They had more adventurous plans than us for the day.. after chatting with them and having a simple breakfast, we decided to change our plans as well.

There was no second night plan to see the lights as we had already done that. So we called Viator and booked ourselves on the only other tour that had two spots left!

Went to our rooms to catch up on some sleep again as we had to leave at 2:30 for that tour. The sun was up (it just goes at a glancing angle and goes down on the same side) and it was still freezing outside. It was not adding warmth but light and a perception of warmth which made us walk outside the hotel for a few minutes.

We were taking pictures of each other when a moose just walks close to us! It was surreal to see a moose up close and personal..

Here are some moose shots..

Apparently it is not a good idea to go close to them.. this one looked like a cow and I thought we could go close and pet it like a cow.. this one was the size of a small horse. Later we learned that it is not a good idea to go close to a moose!

A short video of this beautiful animal...

More later..
